Ringside Reviews
w/ Johnny Z
By John Z l November 18th, 2017
ECPW’s number one fan, Johnny Z here and welcome back to another edition of Ringside Reviews w/ Johnny Z! As always, the ECPW faithful packed into the Phil Sheridan Building Association in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, for a night of hard hitting championship action. The date was 11.17.2017. The entertainment started before the first bell when the ECPW Adrenaline banners kept falling from the wall, enticing the crowd, who responded with a sea of “This Is Awesome” and “Get More Tape”chants….all in good fun. There were too many highlights for the human brain to process, but this reporter had a job to do, so here goes:
  • Gino Caruso/Metal Maniac Rivalry Writes A New Chapter
Gino Caruso made his way to the ring, ready to make a huge announcement with career implications. Gino explained that after The Metal Maniac’s despicable attack last month at ECPW Adrenaline, he suffered from Post Concussion Syndrome and was forced to retire from in ring action. However, another emotional and truly heartfelt moment was ruined yet again by the cowardly duo of “Sports Agent” Doug Devito (who was serenaded with boos and was forced to endure my “Devito In A Speedo sign.) and ECPW Hall Of Famer (Class of 2014), The Metal Maniac who threatened to attack longtime friend of Gino Caruso, Joey G, if Gino didn’t agree to fight! To save his friend from certain destruction, Gino agreed to take on The Maniac at Christmas Chaos. “Mr. Italy” posed the challenge under one condition: LOSER LEAVES ECPW!! You can see this match unfold at Christmas Chaos on December 15th. I am calling for Gino to put the wooden spoon to both the Maniac and Devito when they meet!
  • John Tella vs Frankie Flow (Taped Fist Match)
Both John Tella and Frankie Flow stepped into the squared circle yet again for a Taped Fist rematch from last month. A furious and vengeful Frankie Flow gained the upper hand early, attacking Tella from behind. The two brawled around the ringside area for several minutes before finally entering the ring to start this bout. The match went back and forth, with both men giving everything they had to put away their foe. In the end, ambition got the better of a furious Frankie Flow who shoved the referee out of the ring and proceeded to deck “The Epitome Of Controversy” with brass knuckles, similar to Tella’s actions last month. Frankie was disqualified. However, that didn’t stop Flow from attacking Tella after the match, potentially giving John a broken jaw with those brass knuckles. No doubt Tella will be looking for revenge in the weeks to come and with Christmas Chaos right around the corner, I predict a rubber match between these two behemoths at ECPW’s holiday spectacular.
  • Dan De Man vs Tony Rush – ECPW Heavyweight Championship
Tony Rush seeked revenge for his friend, Kyle Angus after Team Shazaam took the easy way out last month and cost one half of the Great Scotts the ECPW Championship. Before we get into this match, I just want to commend Tony Rush on his rise to the top of the ECPW card and growing in ring ability. When I compare him to the the next Lio Rush, I’m not joking. This man has a very bright future in the wrestling business. Also, I did a hands-on inspection of the concession stand before this match, making sure none of the members of Team Shazaam were hiding there like Corey Dillinger did last month. Tony Rush used his speed to gain the advantage in this match early on, punishing the champion with a series of brutal knife-edge chops and dropkicks, knocking Dan out of the ring. Just as it seemed like  Rush was seconds away from seizing his dream of becoming the ECPW Championship, a culmination of everything he’s worked for, Kenny Bengal and Corey Dillinger of Team Shazaam emerged from the backstage area and attacked the challenger. However, Rush, too, had friends watching his back!. This time, instead of another typical Team Shazaam beatdown, The Great Scotts, Joe Scott and Kyle Angus came to Rush’s rescue and a melee between the six men broke out. I’m calling for a War Games Match at Christmas Chaos between the trios, since I believe that is the only way to settle this personal matter.
  • Crowbar vs “The Hasidic Outlaw” Mattias Glass (Main Event)
After a long night of entertaining and hard hitting action, it was time for the main event as former ECPW Heavyweight Champion and fellow native of the “Other Side Of Sanity,” Crowbar entered the ring to take on “The Hasidic Outlaw” Mattias Glass. Mattias’ antics were no match for the veteran instinct of the crafty Crowbar, who dominated at least 90% of this contest. However, when both men battled outside the ring, it was the Outlaw who made it back into the ring before the 10 count. OY VEY!! An upset! Crowbar was irate and threw a tantrum at ringside followed by an all out assault on Glass. I believe that this issue between Crowbar and Mattias should be addressed by the ECPW commissioner, perhaps involving Israeli delegates!  I can only hope that peaceful negotiations can settle this feud before someone gets seriously hurt, and by someone, I mean Mattias Glass.
  • Andrew Anderson & Timothy Theory Continue To Wreak Havoc
My column would not be complete without mentioning the destruction being caused by the duo of star of Gotham, Andrew Anderson (accomplishments listed below) and “Mr. Canada” Timothy Theory.
